2025 Fall Semester Course Registration for Social Service Practice I (SPGS313) / Practice II (SPGS314)

Korea University Sejong Campus announces the opening of the elective liberal arts courses Social Service Practice I (SPGS313)’ and ‘Social Service Practice II (SPGS314) to foster justice-oriented intellects who realize the values of sharing and caring. Please refer to the following information when applying for these courses.

 

A.    Course Overview

These courses are designed to realize the university’s educational philosophy of cultivating justice-oriented students who embody the values of sharing and caring. Volunteer work carried out in accordance with specified requirements and procedures will be recognized for academic credit.

 

B.     Course Registration Procedure

-              Students must complete the pre-submission documents provided in the attached syllabus and submit them via email to the Social Service Center (share@korea.ac.kr) within the course registration period to obtain prior approval.

 

* Only students who have received prior approval will be automatically registered for the course (processed collectively by the administrative office).

 

C.     Recognized Volunteer Institutions

① Government or local government organizations, non-profit institutions

② Institutions registered with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s ‘1365 Volunteer Portal’ or the ‘VMS (Volunteer Management System)’

③ Community-based social welfare institutions

④ Activities organized by the Korea University Sejong Social Service Organization (KUSSO) or officially certified volunteer organizations

 

D.     Credit Recognition Requirements

① At least 30 hours of volunteer service during the semester (maximum 8 hours per day recognized)

② Completion of basic liberal education training (2 hours) (Orientation for ‘Social Service’ courses will be held; date and time to be announced)

③ Submission of all post-activity documents (Credit Approval Form, Final Report, Attendance Sheet, Performance Evaluation, Certificate of Volunteer Work)

④ Participation in pre-, mid-, and post-activity monitoring surveys

*  Volunteer service hours may be accumulated across multiple institutions and should be at least 30 hours in total.
* Volunteer work is recognized on weekdays and weekends, and may be carried out on a regular or irregular basis, provided it is officially recognized by the institution.
* Participation in volunteer programs organized by the Sejong Campus may also be recognized.

 

E.      Credit Evaluation

-              PASS/FAIL (1 credit) – Elective Liberal Arts

 

F.      Credit Recognition Procedure

-              Application for Credit Recognition → Review by Host Institution → Final Approval by the Dean of Academic Affairs

-              Application for Participation in Social Service [Form 1-1]

-              Self-Introduction [Form 1-2]

-              Volunteer Activity Plan [Form 1-3] (only for Social Service Practice II)

② Post-submission (end of semester/final report)

-              Credit Approval Form [Form 2]

-              Final Report on Social Service [Forms 3-1, 3-2]

-              Attendance Sheet [Form 4]

-              Performance Evaluation Form [Form 5]

-              Other supporting documents related to volunteer work (Certificate of Volunteer Service, etc.)
