Demand-Based R&D Linked to Sejong RISE Strategic Industries in Full Swing

On September 30, Korea University Sejong Campus held the agreement Ceremony for Research and Business Joint Technology Development Support Project for Sejong RISE Future Strategic Industry R&D Support at the Research and Business Cooperation Building Conference Hall. This agreement ceremony is a project jointly promoted by Sejong City and Korea University Sejong RISE Project Group, aiming to strengthen technological competitiveness in regional strategic industries and create a substantial research and business cooperation ecosystem.

The project will be operated centering on a research and business joint technology development that reflects the demands of industries in connection with the strategic areas of Sejong RISE Project Group. It aims to support practical research and development and demonstration projects in advanced strategic fields that Sejong City is intensively fostering, such as quantum technology, future mobility, digital healthcare, information security, with the goal of technological advancement and securing competitiveness of regional industries.

A total of 19 research teams applied for this support project, and through screening, 8 teams with high excellence and feasibility were selected. The selected teams are scheduled to carry out research and business joint R&D projects with support from Sejong RISE Project Group, and plan to increase the possibility of technology commercialization through collaboration with regional industries.

Through this project, the advanced research infrastructure and technological capabilities possessed by the university will be transferred and shared with regional industries, and it is expected to play the role of a translational research platform encompassing technology commercialization and creation of new industries.

 

At the project briefing session held alongside the agreement ceremony, specific guidance was provided on the operational methods for selected projects, research funding support system, project management procedures, and active Q&A and networking continued between participating companies and researchers.

 

Relatedly, Korea University Sejong Campus plans to establish a comprehensive cooperation system among Sejong City, industries within the jurisdiction, research institutions, and universities to expand joint R&D and demonstration-based foundations and accelerate the formation of a regionally centered innovation cluster that can lead future strategic technologies.
